YOUNGEST KEY STAGE 1 PUPIL OFFICIALLY OPENS NEW SCHOOL PLAYGROUND AT WIJPS
26th February 2016
The atmosphere was electric at WIJPS morning break on Friday as pupils watched the youngest of their peers officially open their new adventure playground. A huge cheer erupted as the ribbon was cut by year 1 pupil, Noah Tiller, age 5 and then a lucky few were allowed to try out the equipment before all the children were allowed access at lunchtime.
The fantastic new climbing apparatus and special soft play-surface was entirely funded by the school’s PTA who have worked tirelessly to organise some great events to raise the money, including the highly successful annual WIJPS Winter Fete and Firework display.
The playground, for pupils from year 1 to Year 6, is a welcome addition to the school and stands alongside an existing dedicated adventure playground for reception and nursery pupils.
Headteacher, Andrea Elliker, said, “We are delighted with our new play area and I can’t wait to see the children enjoying it and having fun over the coming months and years. It is extremely rewarding to see all our pupils so excited. We are very lucky to have such amazing support from our WIJPS families and we are very grateful to them and the PTA for making this possible.”
