COMPUTING at WIJPS
Intent
We believe that computing is an essential part of the curriculum and staff reflect this mind-set when planning and teaching the syllabus at WIJPS. It is a subject that not only stands alone for teaching, but which is woven into and becomes an integral part of all learning. Computing, in general, is a significant part of everyone’s daily life and at WIJPS we recognise that children’s learning should reflect the forefront of new technology, developing a thirst for learning and a desire to know more about any new features released. Computing within our school must, therefore, provide our pupils with a wealth of learning opportunities, and equally equip them with transferrable skills, taught both explicitly within Computing lessons and also across other curriculum subjects.
Through the study of Computing, our pupils will develop a wide range of fundamental skills, knowledge and understanding that will equip them for their future lives. Computers and technology play a major role in our everyday lives and if pupils are not exposed to a thorough and robust Computing curriculum they would be disadvantaged. Children are taught computational thinking and creativity in order to provide them with essential knowledge that will enable them to participate effectively and safely in the digital world.
